Should the confederate flag continued to be honored?

People's definition of their rights are getting broader and broader.  The government owes us nothing more than our basic human rights: protection, shelter, sustenance, clothing, and freedom.  It doesn't owe us the right to be liked or treated better or worse than others.  It doesn't owe us cell phones.  It doesn't owe us contraceptives, abortion, or even free wellness checkups.  These things and more are all privilege - not rights.  The right to not be offended is some made-up, fake,  progressive non-sense that has stuck because of America's new-found fear of conflict and conflict resolution - the wimpification of America.

Scientific studies have proven that the vast majority of human beings won't change their mind once their minds are made up, even when presented with hard fact.  The studies further went on to say that when a partisan side was presented with hard fact, it usually actually entrenched them deeper into their wrong opinions.  The partisan crowd on the wrong side usually searches for bad evidence which defends their side and further entrenches them.

In regards to the Confederate flag and discrimination, haven't we learned that when you force it down people's throats who believe in the other side, that you only further entrench them into their position?  Since the Civil War and the Jim Crow Era, white privilege and white guilt have been shoved into white people's faces, which turns a population of them very partisan.  Why are race relations worsening in the United States, but, for the most part, the rest of the world is improving?  My opinion is that things like discrimination have to go away naturally and on their own.  You can't regulate, legislate, and enforce laws on this until the populace is ready or you'll just make things worse.  And the question of whether it should even be regulated and legislated is another issue that should be discussed entirely.  Besides the fact that it infringes on one group's freedom to protect another group's freedom, my feeling is that once the population is ready to accept legislation, it won't need to be legislated - and therefore, there is never a need for it.
