My point is many of those committing terrorist acts on U.S. soil appear to have been radicalized either AFTER moving here, or were actually born in the U.S. The notion that we are in grave danger due to our porous borders seems to be an over simplification of the situation.

It is a gross oversimplification. That's not to say that reasonable ideas like giving extra scrutiny to people with Iranian ties seeking to enter the US should be discounted. Radical Islam is a problem. It's not the civilization ender that Drifter, D6 and FBT would have you believe, but it is a threat, and if making it harder for people with ties to Iran to get into the country mitigates that threat any, it's an avenue worth pursuing.
