There's a difference between the best home game, and the most appealing opponent on the schedule. 

 

The Cowboys are a global brand.  Look at the 2014  home schedule  and of all the match-ups we had on the schedule at home, that was the most obvious game to target for London because Dallas is a big draw regardless of record.

 

The schedule this year doesn't have a premium match-up that offers an opponent that will draw similarly to what Dallas does.  There's a reason people are predicting the Green Bay game will be the selection next year.  They draw huge crowds regardless of where they go. 

 

The NFL wasn't trying to appeal to the Cowboy fan when they put that game in London.  They were trying to appeal to lukewarm or new NFL fans who don't have a clue about the Jaguars, but everyone knows who the Cowboys are.  For a team like Jacksonville who can tack a premium on ticket prices for home games that would draw more interest, losing a game like Dallas or Green Bay to London may help the bottom line, but it deprives the fans of an opportunity to see these teams.  I'm a Jaguar fan, but I LOVE to see the premium opponents play here.  As an NFL fan, it diminishes the value of my tickets to lose those games.
