He's not permitted to be in touch with the team under the terms of the suspension. They've received updates periodically through his agent, but that's it.  Contact is limited beyond that. 

 

We'll see if he's done or not soon enough.  I suspect he will eventually get reinstated.  At that point, we'll see where he's at and a decision will be made based on that.

I believe a conviction, even through a plea bargain, meets the league definition of "trouble", thereby making November 20th the one year mark for reinstatement.

 

A player suspended under the Leagues' substance abuse program is allowed to have bi-weekly telephone contact with the club's Director of Player Engagement. (Does anyone know who holds that position?)  The fact that there's been no contact, or at least no contact worthy of reporting, speaks volumes.
