Sen'derrick Marks tore his ACL on December 28, 2014. His stated goal (link) is to return to practice the week before the season opener, which would peg him at September 7th, roughly. That's about eight months and two weeks removed from his ACL tear, and even that date is still considered questionable.

 

There's no way, no way that Fowler will be recovered enough to safely take the field in week 14. Even if he was, what would the point be? If we're still in the playoff hunt, we were good enough to get there without him, and we might as well let him fully recover while Clemons, Branch and Davis handle it. If we're out of the playoff hunt, why would any sane coach risk sending him out there on a knee that isn't fully recovered? Would you risk a second ACL tear just to get him some meaningless reps in meaningless games?

 

If Fowler is on the 53-man, all he is is dead weight that could be going to an extra receiver, DB, special teamer, whatever. Let him sit the year out and rebuild his knee, then come back next offseason and give the team the equivalent of a second first-round pick in 2016.
