Uh, there's only one way to find out. If you don't trust your ST coaches judgment that this kid can continue this play (based on his mechanics, leg strength, demeanor, etc), then you don't roll the dice.

 

I mean, people talk about "body of work" and cite Myers past. Why aren't they doing the same for Josh, who had a less than stellar year last year? Would you sign MJD as a starter based on his first 8 years in the league rather than his last two (or whatever the actual breakdown is)?

 

Of course not. No, you evaluate them for who they are now.

 

Josh is still reliable, but let's not forget that he didn't have a "great" year last season, and what would have been a GW kick that was blocked, got a "maybe it was too low" comment from the HC.
