No way. IMO, no one will ever touch Ryan Leaf for that title. San Diego gave up the farm to get him, and he was an abject failure in every imaginable sense of the word. He never contributed anything but interceptions, heartburn and headaches to the Chargers. The only way someone takes a higher rung than Leaf is if an even worse whiff is made by someone who traded the farm to move up to the first overall pick for an unmitigated Chernobyl of a quarterback.

 

JaMarcus Russell is right up there and you could make a case for him, but the Raiders "earned" the first overall pick to get him. Otherwise, he was no better than Leaf.

 

RG3, to me, isn't even in that conversation. He looked like he was going to live up to his promise as a rookie, then injuries and Shanahans happened to him. He hasn't yet adapted to playing without the same sort of mobility that he had coming out of college, and, tbqh, pro teams should have known that he was one ACL tear away from mediocrity. He's still a square peg in the round hole that is Jay Gruden's offense. If he lands on a team that will let him be who he is instead of trying to make him into a pocket passer (I know, that's not a good thing to say about a QB), I still think he could be a good pro QB. He'll never live up to his billing at this point, but he's still young and has time to turn it around.
