Hurns not getting drafted had much to do with their being so many good looking WRs in the draft. He only ran in the mid-4.5s, and I'm thinking his tendency to body catch was evident. I know he's been working on catching with his hands, and it showed during the Lions game.

 I believe Jim Caldwell would have challenged the play in the regular season,  taking the chance that it w ould be overturned.   But Caldwell mentioned after the first pre-season game against the Jets that the Lions didn't have enough Defensive plays.  Even with 72 Defensive plays against the Redskins,   I think Caldwell wanted to see the Lions Defense more.  Hence,  the reason for that play not being challenged.   Little did Caldwell know  that the Lions wouldn't be able to get the Jaguars Offense off the field.

 

From my perspective,  Allen Hurns looks natural catching the ball.  He's done a great done working on correcting the problem you described.
