Hmmm this makes me think....remember the playoff game when Leftwich was QB at Foxboro? There was a play when Byron threw an INT. I remember watching the replay of it at the time. I shook my head. Not because Byron made a bad throw, but because of how GREAT the play was. I thought, "well, nothing Byron could have done about it".

 

Why did I make that comment?

 

Because, on that play, the Jaguars had the throw going to a receiver on some kind of out route. Watching the replay of that play, you see what Byron saw, and can only conclude...the guy was open. You make that conclusion because what you would have seen was the cornerback, turn his back completely and run with the outside WR upfield....leaving a space open where the Jaguar WR would have been a recipient of the pass.

 

Except that's not what happened.

 

Because the cornerback who was running upfield, his back completely turned away from Leftwich, suddenly stopped, turned, and stepped in front of the other receiver to intercept the ball.

 

At the time, I thought...man, great recognition. Risky gamble, but great play knowing what we were going to run.

 

Now?

 

It makes me think...hhhmm?
