The timing of everything at the end of the episode really stretches the Suspension of disbelief.

 

So just as they're getting ready to leave, Susan's husband Patrick comes home in time for Madison to see just before they leave. And as soon as he hugs his wife the army pops up behind the door.  


Also really not liking the drug addict kid.  Or Travis.  I have a feeling Travis is going to cause a lot of people to get killed.  


My guess is that his ex is going to be the first major death.  That scene between her and Madison will take a reversal, with her asking Madison to kill her so neither Travis nor Chris has to do it.  And that becomes the point where Madison lets go of society.
