Nantz and Simms are good, sometimes Phil can get to be a little much but I like his honest enthusiasm.

 

Michelle Tafoya is on empty. She's scripted and dull; Erin Andrews is equally vacuous IMO and I don't see much from any of the sideline women save Pam Oliver who occasionally is interesting. Jackie MacMullan on one of the afternoon TV shows is very good, though.

 

Mike Tirico is ordinary but I like Gruden b/c he says so many silly things but...he has walked the walk and is credible. I'd like to see him paired with Al Michaels to see what they would bring.

 

Joe Buck should stay with baseball; Aikman is OK, Dan Fouts isn't as bad as I first thought.

 

The worst is Brian Sexton although I do like his extraordinary recall of facts, dates, history, etc. The announcing part is, well, awful.

 

I like Mike Tirico, but without hearing him on any other program, I don't know if Jon Gruden is helping him sound better or not. Gruden usually does a great job, but once I heard him talk about being down on the sideline in the same stadium before it was even built.

 

I hated Troy Aikman as a player because he was a Cowboy, but as a color analyst, he is one of the best on Fox.

 

I never really thought about comparing college and NFL sideline reporters because for some reason colleges don't like to tell them what the injury is. They claim there's a patient confidentiality law that applies to college athletes. So we can only compare NFL reporter with NFL reporter. I like sideline reporters who actually say what an injury is - broken leg, torn ACL, etc. - instead of simply repeating what body part was injured, which everyone knows already.
