The Official Gus Bradley and Dave Caldwell Approval Poll
|
Quote:Why do we take it as gospel that Dave Caldwell is doing a good job? Do you honestly see the talent of our team as better than the talent of any other team in the league (minus maybe the Browns)? We look as bad as we did 3 years ago when we went 2-14. I just don't get why all the love for Caldwell. Gospel? No. So far the evidence points that way IMO. I've disagreed with some of his actions. I thought he should have traded down (or at least attempted to) in the 2013 and 2015 drafts. I didn't like the Monroe trade. I thought the Jags should have kept Knighton instead of signing Miller. OTOH, the players he drafted have looked good as rookies. Joeckel and Fowler didn't get much chance as rookies due to injuries, but Bortles was amazing in preseason 2014; there were a lot of highlight plays to build on. The whole 2013 class looked promising in 2013. Since then Sanders melted down, Cyprien never developed, Gratz regressed. Besides Bortles, last year gave us two starting WRs, a top RG, a top LB, and a starting CB. Is it Caldwell's fault that the WRs are not as good this year as they were last year? Players should get better, not worse. Young players have to be developed and that's where I see the failure. When draft picks are not playing as well in their second season as they did as rookies it's not the fault of the GM, it's the coaching staff. As far as free agency: he has a few mistakes along with some big hits in Marks and Parnell. That's fairly good compared to the league average. "Why should I give information to you when all you want to do is find something wrong with it?" |
