Kubiak forcing Manning to play in his offense looks exactly how most thought it would, awkward and not for Manning.


I'm guessing very soon that the Broncos will scrap Kubiak's offense soon hand it back over to Manning.


I would much rather have a diminished Manning in his comfort zone than a diminished Manning doing something new and uncomfortable.

Cutting Manning would have, IIRC, cost an arm and a leg. All the same, there were supposedly discussions about trading him to Houston. I think it comes down to this: even though Osweiler is a better fit for the offense, Manning is the better quarterback, even with a declining arm, and it's not even close.

And don't give me anything about Kubiak being a coach for a long time. That really is irrelevant.

Remember when the Broncos' offense was so successful in 1997 and 1998? When John Elway, a first-ballot Hall of Famer, was in his 15th and 16th seasons? Know who the coordinator was? Gary Kubiak. His former backup QB.

 

Manning may well have greater on-field knowledge based upon the playing careers of the two, but in terms of play-calling and game planning, it's not even close. Kubiak was coordinating Super Bowl offenses when Manning was in college.
