I doubt the ref used racial slurs to begin with and even if he did derogatory words don't justify a blindsided physical attack. Secondly, it is suggested the coach encouraged the attack because of missed calls not because of slurs. 

 

Now, it's a bit convoluted to intertwine racial slurs and missed calls together to justify the cheap shot into the spine. They are merely trying to grow sympathy for their vicious assault any possible way, which anyone with any common sense can see it's a desperate attempt of fabrication.

 

IMO, the boys should be banned for the year and the coach fired.
