Back when I was living in the Philly burbs, which was almost 23 years ago now (damn time flies), I was glued to the couch year round watching sports. NBA, NHL, MLB, NFL and college hoops.


Philadelphia had an unofficial 'league' they called The Big Five. I guess it still exists. It was the five major universities around Philly...Temple, Penn, Saint Joes, Villanova and LaSalle. Back then they were all relevant and at least 2 or 3 were always in the top 20. Man I couldn't get enough college hoops.


Now my interest as just waned. I start watching again around March, for obvious reasons.


What does all this mean? Hell, I don't know.

 

Probably means that your dum, but let's not dwell on the obvious.

 

I'm with you though on the waning desire to watch sports though. I watch NFL and NCAA football regularly, but when it comes to basketball if it ain't my alma mater playing, I don't really care. Maybe sports is really for a younger generation now or something but it really doesn't appeal to me the way it did.

 

Funny thing is, football is my sport. I've watched it all my life, played it as I could, and even coach it now but nothing gets me emotional like watching the VCU basketball team play. I was so wound up after that win Tuesday night, I don't think I even attempted to get into my bed until after midnight. I couldn't even begin to say when I got to sleep. It's just a different emotional investment for me.
