Kickers are a strange breed though, especially when you consider them against the backdrop of the other players on a typical squad. I've heard it explained before that kickers are a lot like golf players, most of their game is purely mental / emotional. Now I'm not sure about you guys but I would think that if I was in my 30's with a wife and a couple of kids and I found out I had just gotten traded and that my first regular season game is in a week and a half, my mental and emotional state would not be anything close to "stable".

 

I'm not trying to make excuses for Scobee here, but to understand why he is struggling isn't it important to look at what he is facing? Maybe as the season goes along he'll warm up to the situation but for now I'm at least willing to consider "complete change of scenery" as a reason for his recent struggles.
