The Pats were in the 1985/6 Superbowl. I'd say that ended the wait. 
The AFL was formed in 1960. (and if my math is right ...) 26 years to their first Superbowl appearance, not "three decades." They also had 'division' titles in 1963 and 1978.

 

 

On average a team should win a division title once every four years, get a Superbowl appearance once every 16 years, and win the Superbowl once every 32 years. This is the Jags 21st season. The Jags have yet to appear in a Superbowl. They have only appeared in 2 AFC title games. 1999 was the last division title.
