I refuse to extrapolate the remainder of the Raiders season based on 3 games.... anymore than I would do so in a woeful fashion for our Jaguars...

 

I will say this...

 

During his tenure here Jack Del Rio was a pretty darn good coach. And it wasn't until the rosters were their most depleted did he really start to lose it, imo.

Taking over a roster that had some skillful players did young Jack well. And back in an era when you could get away with an average offense with good D and strong running, he did just that for many of his years.

While the Jaguars were never AFCS champions or even truly contenders under Jack, we were always pushing and challenging and sometimes achieving a wild card berth. Sometimes even making some noise.

But eventually good just isn't good enough and his time ran out here in J-Ville. And probably never a better moment for ol JDR. The sad beaten look on his face could wither from memory just as quick as his "keep choppin wood"... he'd go back to defensive coordinator, back to his roots, reset.

A few years of pretty good defenses in Denver got JDR a shot again at head coach. And I tell you what... the Raiders are lucky to have him, on his second stint.

Now he knows what he can and what he can not do. He knows what works he knows what doesn't. He has a young roster to build off of. He's matured a bit as a person and a coach.

Playoffs? I dunno..... but rising to the top of a division waiting to be had (as soon as Manning makes his soon exit) is really possible. And a long career is what I envision for ol' Jack in Southern Cal.
