The key is getting the NFLPA to agree to this. Many players are against the NFL regular season schedule increasing to 17 games. Enough of a financial carrot will have to be put on the table to get the NFLPA to sign off on this. Higher salaries and more jobs ( roster spots ) would almost certainly have to be offered to the NFLPA as part of a potential agreement.

I feel this is the best approach as well. They should also reduce the preseason to two games and increase the number of joint practices/scrimmages between neighboring non-conference teams. This would be an additional concession to the NFLPA (and quite frankly to season ticket holders as well) in exchange for the additional regular season game.


This could lead to 4, maybe more, international neutral site cities (London, Berlin, Mexico City and Tokyo come to mind as they have all hosted preseason games in the past I believe) that would each host 4 games (or less if there are more than 4 neutral sites) which would total 16 neutral site games which would cover all 32 teams.


Whenever the topic of neutral site games gets brought up on NFL media outlets like SiriusXM radio, I'm always a little shocked this broader view doesn't get much traction or even get discussed at all.
