Declaring the team built doesn't mean that it's now a playoff contender. I think a lot of you have misread that statement and twisted it in a way that wasn't intended, but that's fine. If you think he was saying "It's built" and the team was instantly going to be a contender, then your misconception gives you every right to be upset because Gus lied to you personally.


When I saw the statement, I read it to believe his point was that they've now got the foundation pieces in place to turn the corner and become a competitive team. He wasn't saying it was going to happen in week 1. The expectation is that year 3 is where the team would turn the corner, and year 4 is the point where they'd be competing for both the division and the post season. So, it's built means different things depending on who is interpreting the statement. Some of you have used that as some sort of indictment, and I find that rather amusing because nobody was expecting this team to be a juggernaut this year. Almost everyone was predicting at best a .500 season. But, they were also expecting the team to become the unit that is on the rise as the season progresses. We're 4 games in. There's a lot of football left to play, and plenty of opportunity for that to happen. Whether it does or not will determine Gus' fate.

Does it really takes 3 years tho? Look at the Jets, Falcons,Cardinals... Its kinda sad, really! Gus has had ample time! He just doesnt have it! Im pretty sure the expectation as a coach is to win every game, and be competitive. Not take 3 seasons too lose... Sry its looking like we failed picking up Gus! Back to the Rebuild.
