Anyways, there can be an argument for keeping Caldwell.  The things I like about Caldwell is his plan and strong belief in it, honesty with the fan base and overall, has done a good job drafting.  What I haven't liked is his free agent choices (at the time or seeing the actual results) and letting key pieces go that could have bridged the gap.  He wanted to go young, but he even admitted that he should have kept more veterans.  We let some players go who could play really well on Sunday, but may have also brought the youth along.

 If sticking to the plan and strong belief in it is enough to keep Caldwell, then why not Gus?  I'm personally not too high on DC. He has had some late-round hits, but the top has had some questionable ones. I know that a GM won't hit every pick, but IMO he's as much responsible for the first two years of mess that happened...a fact he even admits (which you cited).

 

But like I said, to me, if you keep DC, then you better KNOW he's the guy. That if you bring in a new coach, that you know he'll pick the right candidate this time. That one-two years down the road, if you're Shad, you're not staring at another possible rebuild wondering "is it the HC or is it the GM?"

 

Keep DC, ok. But you better be sure of it. Right now, I don't think he's in the "I'm sure of him" threshold
