If that is what you got from a couple of simple paragraphs, I can see why you would be baffled, you have the reading comprehension of a gnat.

 I mentioned this in another thread, with Khan "over correcting", which happens frequently in the NFL. I cited that we went with a very veteran heavy staff under Mularkey, and it became a problem of too many chefs in the kitchen. So what do we do? We go very young with the new GM, new HC, staff, and even our players.

 

But there's also another possible over-correction: Gene Smith and Mularkey are two of the dullest personalities you'll even find in the NFL circles. I don't think its quite a reach to say that Shad didn't like that and swung too far to the other side with the strong personalities of Dave and Gus
