So while I mostly agree, it would seem the offense hasn't been as hamstrung as the defense. Leads me to point to players and coaching. But... is it possible this defense still doesn't have the players to run it, yet we're sticking with it anyway?

 

OK, so the defense is hamstrung by the players we "wish" we had.  Well, reality says we don't have the players we "wish" for.  So therefore, we have the players we have.

 

Why not figure out a way to make those players successful?  

 

This is what good coaches do.  They take what they have, and create something that is respectable.  We got nothing of the sort this past Sunday.  

 

I get it.  If you think of coaching as a philosophical discussion, it's easy to say that we don't have the tools.  But if you look at coaching in the manner of we need to compete to win, you have to adjust your philosophy to meet the reality of the situation.

 

We don't have an OTTO and a LEO.  So freakin' what???  Just get the job done.  Find a way to tackle the runners.  Find a way to rush the QB.  It's not as difficult as you make it out to be.

 

Unless...

 

Unless you say, "X" is the only way.  

 

And if you say "X" is the only way, and you cannot adapt, you are not a coach.  You are a bureaucrat that fails because you cannot adapt to reality.
