Ferentz is older, but so was Coughlin and that ended up being a pretty good decision back then. I've always been impressed with how he gets the most out of his teams no matter how much talent he has.Once again, he has his team rolling this year. I think it's an interesting idea.


Kelly because I firmly believe he has the right temperament to be an NFL coach. He is an attention to details guy and will light a fire under his players. I think his style would fit well with this team. They need a leader like Kelly and I think he'd get the most out of these players.


Shula is a familiar face as he's worked with the Jags before. He's been a coordinator for a long time so he has experience and really has done a fantastic job in Carolina this year with a group of largely underwhelming receivers. Plus who knows, maybe hiring Shula's kid would finally lift this "Marino Phins" curse haha 

 

 

Ferentz  and Kelly are pure College football and for different reasons. Despite how popular he is, Ferentz is too committed to Iowa and  I don't think anyone is going to pry him away from the comfort of Iowa college football. He runs a system type offense that works in college and produces above average results and always brings in strong recruiting classes. I don't see a guy like Ferentz adapting tot he complexities of NFL systems and having to draft and develop. Not the worst suggestion but i know he is a very popular option and I'd still like to maybe see him in the NFL.

 

Brian kelly would have similar struggles. He said himself how much he likes the luxury of hand picking his players, and he has big time recruiting power. 

 

Shula is interesting, but is he ready for that jump? Maybe in a few more years... I'm impressed with what he's been able to do with Cam Newton's 10 cent head. If he can get a slacker like Newton to work hard and produce, then he must be doing something right.
