Nobody is saying yay. Our 2013 draft was disappointing. That doesn't mean that Caldwell sucks.


 

Picking players is a statistical exercise. There are no sure things. You pick the player who has the best chance of helping your team and hope that he pans out, but sometimes the 30%er will be good and the 70%er will be a bust. When there aren't very many good players you can't expect good results.


 

One other thing about the 2013 draft. Caldwell was stuck working with the scouts left over from Gene Smith that year. He made a lot of changes to the scouting department after that draft.
