It takes 3-4 years to determine if a draft pick is a bust or not, and no one drafts all great players. Anyone who feels conned probably had unrealistic expectations to begin with.


Furthermore, Caldwell didn't sell a 3 year plan to Khan (his deal is 5 years), and I still haven't seen the link stating where he sold a 3 year plan to the fan base that everyone keeps talking about.


It is what it is at this point, fellers. Caldwell has hit some, missed some. If he hits on Blake and Fowler, he'll be considered a decent GM. Gus Bradley on the other hand, is starting to prove incapable of developing talent. This team isn't where it wants to be, and they may not be where they thought they'd be at this point either, but I certainly don't blame Khan for not giving his guys a chance to right the ship before it sinks. Doug Marrone has already shown the ability to abandon a perfectly good ship; I wouldn't want him taking the reigns either.

 

There are a few articles in the past year where Caldwell talked about "adding some free agents at year 3 when we were ready" or something to that effect. Many have taken that to mean 3-year plan. Also, the quotes/graphics about the team being "built" did not help.

 

I think, People are truly underestimating where this team was 3 years ago. I posted the other coaching hires and interviews from that year, and remember how none of the other hired coaches even interviewed here. Why do think that was?

 

Granted there were some talented players they could have kept, but every points to Caldwell selling to Khan that it would take 3 years of drafts to just really be competitive to win games. Remember he felt we OVERACHIEVED the past two years. So if anything, imagine if the Jags had only won 3-4 games the past 2 years because that was their expectation.

 

Bradley's main problems is that:

1) He is too ingrained in his "principles" on offense/defense to create schemes for players he actually has.

2) He takes too long to really assess the problems to make timely adjustments.

3) He does not come off as detail-minded, so it is crazy to think he can make his players be that.
