Well we likely could have had Suh if we wanted him since we could've outbid Miami (i.e. overpaid for him). Would that have made anyone happy? I mean the guy is regularly in trouble and then there's the "freelancing" he was apparently doing when on the field. Mccourty would have been nice but though tempted as he was, he wanted to stay with the pats for less money and who wouldn't want to play on a perennial playoff/Super Bowl team?
We'll be active in free agency in the next few years and we'll probably get a few guys that really contribute, but I don't think we'll ever sign a guy like Suh or Mario Williams who sign record free agent contracts. I think the bulk of that free cap space will be going toward resigning our own guys once it's their turn. We're poised to be able to draft, develop and keep most or all of our elite talent. Not a bad position to be in. |
