Buffalo has a very good front 7 and they had 9 or 10 of them stacked in there.  Alualu opened a nice hole on 2nd down but Toby went left into somebody's backside.  The 4th down run was very close to a TD but Buffalo did a great job bending Toby back about a foot short. 

 

Running into the teeth of a great defense isn't the best strategy, and I think Gus knows this.  Going for 7 there is recognizing that you can take control of the game.  A 9-minute drive and a 3-TD deficit is a strong statement.  It's a back-breaker.  I have no doubt everyone on the team wanted to go for it.  They didn't make it.  Maybe they learn something or change something, but I don't blame them for trying.  And they won the game anyway.  It's a free lesson, not a costly lesson.
