I truly believe it pays off to go deep and untraditional in looking for a kicker. If you don't get one during the draft or udfa the odds are you'll be stuck in kicker purgatory recycling the same guys everyone else does. Doesn't hurt to try to break the cycle and go in a different direction. Plus, it seems like it usually takes a few go arounds to get an adequate replacement after moving on. It's what I've been worries about since Scobee's decline last year- it's very rare that a team goes straight from one good 10year kicker to the next. There's usually a couple of years where they try to find an answer.
