It's unfortunate and he was a favorite of mine, but he was clearly declining. 

 

So he suddenly no longer has the leg to kick in the NFL?  His leg is still stronger than probably 70% of the kickers out there.  One of his kicks was blocked from 30 yards out, so his leg is too weak suddenly to kick 30 yarders?  And getting blocked from 55 is clearly a rare occurence as most NFL kickers will kick those into the top row.  Come on now...  

 

The man missed only 2 field goals the season before with one being blocked.  He was 4/5 on 50+ yard field goals and had a 55 yarder.  There were no injuries and he just suddenly lost the ability to kick in less than 6 months?

 

You ask a kicker to make difficult kicks because he has a strong leg and then when a few get blocked we're going to pretend that he doesn't have the leg to be a good kicker anymore.  Makes sense.
