The clock started when we got Blake. For Dave and Gus, imo.

 

I'm not saying the coaching issues aren't there. Clock management and play-calling/role questions.

But those things can be corrected easier than a Quarterbacks throwing mechanics.

 

Gus' first year was a Gabbert Henne roster blow up year.

And while the next season didn't net any more wins, that was when the young roster excuse was real. It was legit. As evidenced by our many starters drafted that year and the year before.

 

And youth and injuries have been a clinging excuse for many fans this year when an angry bunch started calling for heads to roll. But as the roster gets healthy and we see with our very own eyes what this offense is capable of, at times, in spite of issues the excuses have to fade.

Wins need to come. This season... and I'm thinking at least 4 more to save Gus. I think it can be done. I think it will be done. And I think if it is done, every critical fan should step back and give the Gus bus another year to roll, to grow....

 

Yeah 9-30 is ugly to look at. And it is historically bad.

But we had a historically bad GM before Gus got here. Not a lot to work with and going from the ground up is a little transcendent of how the NFL usually rolls.

so let's say Gus goes from 3 to 6 or 7, and then in year 4 (but Blake's year 3) well, the trend is up for sure....it is real improvement people don't want to admit to.

The roster was really really bad, not that long ago.

For Gus' first entire year, the roster was bad.

Historically bad. 

for the most part I agree and the other thing is statistics don't tell the whole story...It's funny how when they first hired Caldwell, Khan, Caldwell nd Gus told everyone this would be a long rebuilding process...He (caldwell) even said it might get worse before it gets better (paraphrasing)...The majority of the board were ok with that until 2 years later citing lack of wins and ready to fire everyone...Everyone was told this would be a long process..2.5 years isn't long
