Bortles hasn't even reached his ceiling, and Luck already has.

 

Just take a look at Luck's career.  His best year was his second in college.  He's been on cruise control since, not growing a bit.  That's great when you grade and project a guy when he's still in college, but that was years ago without progress since.

 

But that probably isn't his problem as much as it is your problem.  Open your eyes and actually watch with just a hint of objectivity.

 

The main argument for Luck seems to be that he was able to feast on a weak division over his first three seasons to build up a good reputation. If you're going purely on production at this stage of their careers then Bortles is way out in front. In Luck's second season, when he was older than Bortles now, he threw 23 TD passes. Bortles, at 23, currently is on a pace to get closer to Luck in his third season, when he was 25, than Luck in his second season.

 

One thing is for sure, Bortles current trajectory should be taken note of, he's way out ahead of everyone else at this age except for Dan Marino and Matthew Stafford, who was in his third season of NFL football when he was 23.
