Frank Beamer to Retire at End of Season

#4

Quote:Great career.  They are the program that UVA should have.  Beamer beat them to it.

And kept them from it.

In the 80s Welsh had the Cavaliers getting national attention.  During the 90s, the two teams swapped positions and it's been downhill for UVA since.

Last time UVA beat VT in back to back seasons was 1997 and 1998.

Last time UVA beat VT was 2003.  Since then, it's been the Hokies on an 11 game streak, the longest between the two.

I'm glad there was an amicable parting.  Not as sudden as Spurrier at SC, and not as ridiculous as what happened at FSU with Bowden.

Interesting to see if they go with the current regime (Shane Beamer or Bud Foster) or look in a new direction to lift the program back up.

Biggest key will be to keep the best of the Tidewater talent from going out of state.
