Yep. Morgan's wife kept creeping around 'her' door. They went completely away from that arc on the show. 

 

As far as using zombie guts to mask your scent, yes, they've done that a couple of times. They did it the first season with Rick/Glenn walking in downtown ATL and then I think it started raining? And then Carol again heading to terminus. It's the only thing that works and really, they should be constantly covered in zombie innards IYAM.
