  Pep Hamilton indeed was Andrew Luck's OC with Stanford.   Though Luck probably is disturbed by Hamilton being fired,  he needs to put that behind him fast both for himself and from a Colts standpoint.   The Broncos top flight Defense is going to provide Luck with a tremendous challenge that even Aaron Rodgers ended up on the short end of the stick.

 

  While Chuck Pagano is desperate,   I'm still far from convinced Pagano made the decision to fire Hamilton.   Regardless,  Pagano could be out of work if the Broncos game gets ugly.  

Mike McCarthy is exhibit A when discussing guys who are better head coaches than coordinators. Pep is a pretty good coordinator, though. How Luck responds to his firing will go a big way towards determining Pagano's future. If the offense improves under Chud, that might be enough to save Pagano temporarily. If it continues to flounder, Pagano is as good as gone.

 

I think Hamilton's firing was Pagano's doing. I doubt Jim Irsay would bother with just firing the OC if he was unhappy enough to let someone go. That said, if Pagano reports to Ryan Grigson, I could envision a scenario in which Grigson told Pagano to fire Hamilton--or just did so himself--in an effort to prove that it was Pagano's poor choice of assistant coaches and not Grigson's talent that was tanking the team.
