I think Hamilton's firing was Pagano's doing. I doubt Jim Irsay would bother with just firing the OC if he was unhappy enough to let someone go. That said, if Pagano reports to Ryan Grigson, I could envision a scenario in which Grigson told Pagano to fire Hamilton--or just did so himself--in an effort to prove that it was Pagano's poor choice of assistant coaches and not Grigson's talent that was tanking the team.

 

   I thought Mike McCarthy did a very good job as a play caller as Packers HC.   This season, he gave up the play calling but was their play caller in his previous 9 seasons with the team.   Of course, having Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers as your QB makes play calling much more effective compared to the likes of Aaron Brooks and Alex Smith.  

 

   Even if it wasn't Jim Irsay that made the decision to fire Pep Hamilton,  there's no question on this end that the decision had to be approved by Irsay.   

 

   Because Ryan Grigson's job could be on the line as well,   it's certainly a realistic possibility that Grigson is the one who made the decision  ( with Irsay's approval ).  

 

   If Grigson is let go,   the obstacle Irsay will have in getting a G.M candidate in demand to take the job is Irsay's hands on approach and public personality that he has displayed in the post Bill Polian era.
