You don't know any other rivalry if you think FSU vs. UF is the greatest one in the nation. It is not even close. The Kansas/Missouri rivalry is based on the Civil War, so its name is Border War. Army/Navy is the oldest one. Ohio State/Michigan is probably also based on history: a fight over possession of Toledo. Some Gators fans say there is more bad blood with the Georgia Bulldogs than the Seminoles, who play in a different conference.
Of course, even though Florida needs a miracle to win next week, I will watch that game if it does not coincide with The Game - Ohio State at Michigan - because I know a lot of #2 teams have lost to unranked teams in recent years, so it can happen to FSU. Didn't an unranked team just beat #5 Oregon? |
