Yeldon is the anti-Fred Taylor, but not in a bad way. Fred was always dynamite from the first carry and on, but Yeldon takes a little more time to get going. Fred had burst that allowed him to jump on a Defense before they really knew what was happening; that was his best trait. To me, Yeldon's best trait is his balance. He never goes down with the first hit and is always moving forward, I love that about him. Thing is, that means he needs to be fed the ball a lot. His two yard gains start turning into eight yard gains as the game goes on. I am curious as to how effective it would be to have Denard Robinson start the game at RB and then move to Yeldon as the defense wears down.

 

The little things are killing this squad. There just seems to be a lack of attention to detail on so many parts of the team and it's maddening. I don't know if I could articulate further but there is just a feeling I get when I watch this team that they need to be a little more "professional".

 

Bortles is really feeling the pressure on Offense. It just seems like he is pressing so hard to make big plays that he's getting himself into trouble. The Offensive Line did him no favors yesterday, but I get the feeling that he needs to settle a bit and focus more on just putting a good play together. You don't have to go 80 yards on every play, chip away at the Defense a little.

 

The passing game is coming along nicely. Let's be honest, that's a top notch Defense NYJ has there and Blake and Co. just hung 400+ yards on them. If not for turnovers, yesterday was a win (duh).

 

The lack of a feared pass rusher is very apparent. Nothing trumps talent and when a Defensive Tackle is generating more pressure than a Defensive End, that speaks to talent. This team misses Fowler, or what Fowler is supposed to be. That being said...

 

There seems to be a something strategically wrong with the Defense. I'm not exactly certain what it is, but why is the middle of the field always so open? Why does the team choose to never take inside leverage on a player and force the QB to make the tougher throw to the outside? Or... am I just wrong and it's another talent issue as far as coverage goes?

 

I agree with most of what you said, but especially the underlined part.   Maybe I wouldn't notice it as much if we were winning, but there are a lot of mistakes out there.   They just look kind of sloppy at times.   Neglecting to block someone, or not knowing whom to block, or taking the wrong angle in run support, or failing to find the ball when it's in the air on pass defense, or failing to cover someone, or just looking confused at times.  Safeties get pulled out of position.   Often they look unprepared for what the opponent throws at them.  It looks like opposing coaches are exploiting our mental weaknesses.   They know the plays and formations to throw at us that will confuse us.  

 

It makes me wonder sometimes if coaching isn't to blame.   So many mental errors out there.   It's like preseason sometimes.
