Blake Bortles is non-canon arm Brett Favre

Quote:You really have it in for Blake, don't you?

We all know that statistics can be used to show any outcome a person desires, so what exactly is it beyond the numbers that has you so seemingly convinced he is and will always be a colossal failure? Simply put, the kid has improved his game by a visible margin from year 1 to year 2. It is not unreasonable to expect that trend to continue forward until he peaks in ~4 years. There are definitely parts to his game that he needs to clean up and I personally believe he can and will when he isn't being asked to do so much offensively.

As I said elsewhere, I haven't watched a single Mariotta snap. Nor will I (tack hate) until we play them. As a result, I'm not going to sit here and say he sucks. His numbers look solid for a first year QB. Good for him. But Bridgewater, who I have watched, has shown me nothing to make me think he's anywhere near BB in terms of the QB he can be. He's a reliable starter/game manager who's going to have a high completion percentage because he doesn't take chances/shots downfield and that's fine when you build a strong team around him (ala Alex Smith or Garrard).

Having said all that, Derek Carr is balling and I'm honestly glad he is considering the questions surrounding his lineage. I still maintain his brother could have been a good QB behind a decent offensive line. The pounding David Carr took as a Texan was disgusting and the fact that he can still walk is somewhat shocking. I'm glad he's getting that monkey off his back but let's also not pretend Oakland doesn't have a superior head coach, superior offensive line and a respectable rushing attack, which we all know are a QBs best friends.

Honestly, I don't care about Merryfritatta at all. But I have been watching him play, just to get an idea where certain posters come from in terms of evaluating talent.

It's night and day difference between MM and BB5.  People that bash BB5 but think MM is on his way to being a good QB prove they aren't really very smart, or are not really watching BB5 and MM playing, they only watch one or the other.

MM is in fact a 1 read pony.  I don't care what any other poster says.  I have not watched every snap MM has thrown this season.  But I've watched the last 3 games he's played.  The vast majority of his passes are quick reads.  And when he get's in trouble is when he holding the ball too long and tries to go through his progressions.

This is not to say he won't figure it out.  But he's got a lot of work to do.  I don't hate MM, he seems like a decent dude with a good head on his shoulders.  But he's no BB5.  He's the best rookie QB in the NFL.  But that's not saying much.
