PFFs grades after the Jets game

Despite being under pressure on 46.9% of his dropbacks and eventually losing the game, quarterback Blake Bortles (+6.3) had a really solid outing yesterday. Accounting for drops and throwaways, Bortles was accurate on 77.8% of his passes. It was especially impressive how accurate he was on downfield passes. He completed 7 of his 11 pass attempts when throwing more than 20 yards downfield. In addition, Bortles proved to be a dual-threat option yesterday and picked up 30 yards on three scrambles.

– The fact that Bortles’ great performance was not enough for the win might have to do with the Jaguars’ non-existent running game. Excluding a 45-yard run, T.J. Yeldon (-2.4) ran for 19 yards on 13 carries and forced only one missed tackle on these attempts. It is important to note that Yeldon really did not have a chance to get started yesterday as he was constantly hit in the backfield by Jets defenders. Again, excluding the big run, all 19 of Yeldon’s rushing yards came after contact, which shows how the Jets front seven dominated the Jaguars’ offensive line.

– Safety John Cyprien (+3.4) backed up his solid game against the Bills two weeks ago and played the best game of his career yesterday. While he did defend one of the three passes thrown his way, his biggest contribution came in the running game. He finished the game with a team-high 10 solo tackles without missing any tackle attempts. Eight of Cyprien’s 10 tackles were stops, which constituted in an offensive failure. His run stop percentage of 25.9% led all safeties in Week 9 as he picked up seven run stops on 27 run snaps.

Top performers:

QB Blake Bortles (+6.3)

S John Cyprien (+3.4)

C Stefan Wisniewski (+2.8)

WR Allen Hurns (+2.1)

WR Bryan Walters (+2.1)
