The current venue (Metro Park) on the St Johns across from the stadium is beyond run down.  It was outdated 10 years ago.
It was just in the news the other day that the stage cover at Metro Park has deteriorated to the point where they've had to basically close the stage until they can figure out how to fix it.  This new amphitheater may relegate that to being incorporated into the Shipyard project for redevelopment.
