A single number one draft pick won't pull a team out of mediocrity unless there's already a good supporting cast in place.  Even then in can be a crap shoot (Ryan Leaf anyone?).  The best way to build a winner is to get a smart front office in place, draft well OVERALL.

 

If you go into seasons hoping to lose for a number one draft pick every year thinking that's some magic potion, you'll find yourself hoping the team loses every year.
