I know this is a tired debate but i would like to weigh in on the matter. First, as a Gators fan, i admit Will cheated. He took something he knew he shouldn't have to gain a competitive edge. Albeit the only result of which i could visibly see was weight gain, but cheating is cheating. 

 

   The biggest thing that myself and other fans ive spoke to saw in Grier was the "it" factor he displayed earlier in the year. Its something that most championship teams have had throughout the years and even recently. Teams with special players usually have the most success or succeed where most believe they shouldnt. For example, i remember watching FSU Clemson a few years ago, and im pretty sure he was still a freshman, but i remember they showed Jameis in the locker room before the game and by the way this freshman talked and the way the team listened you could tell that he was different than most players, there was just something special about him. In no way am i saying that Grier is Jameis or is he going to be anything close to him. All im saying is that there was something different about him that we as gators fan had not seen since the golden boy went to play in denver. And if you watched the Tennessee game you know what I mean. 14 points in the last four and a half minutes when youre down 13 and havent done anything the whole game? And then to throw that beautiful TD on 4th and 14, i lost my voice for a few days after watching that. And then to have those dreams partially validated by beating the number 3 team in the country(whether they deserved to be the number 3 team is a debate for another day) in such a convincing manner and Grier playing the way he did had myself and other gators fans thinking playoff thoughts. 

 

   Now about Treon. Imo Treon is Jeff Driskel right now. He's playing scared right now. Yeah i know you could take the easy side of the argument and say he's short, which he is, but thats obvious. Whats more painfully obvious is the fact that hes trying to be something hes not. He doesnt have the accuracy to sit in the pocket every play and try to pick apart the coverage. And the few times the oline has given him time he gets antsy and rolls out when he doesnt need to, holds onto the ball way too long. Which is exactly what Jeff would do last year and the year before. But he does have some strengths that either he or coach mac arent playing to. Hes fast and quick, and he throws pretty well on the run. If i were coach mac id mix in a few read options every game, and tell treon to pull a few of them. Im not saying hes an option qb but hes quick enough to bust a long run a few times a game. I support him as a gator but i dont have much faith that he'll turn out to be anything more than a shorter, less accurate Tyler Murphy. I hope he proves me wrong, and i hope he stops trying to be what hes not and plays to his strengths because its not Vandy or FAU or South Carolina coming to the swamp this week, hell, its not even UGA coming to play this week. They need to be on their toes and ready to go or Dalvin is going to shove that ball down their throat.
