I have to reiterate the fact that the way the stadium is configured now in comparison to prior to the renovations that closed in both end zones and added the new video boards, the stadium would get relatively loud, but not as bad as in venues where the seats are closer to the field.  I think they've done a good job of addressing that with the renovations.  The problem on Sunday wasn't the way the stadium is built.  The problem is that on a day when the weather was absolutely perfect, many people who SHOULD be at the games are finding other things to do with their time.  There were huge patches of empty seats that, had they been filled, the decibel level from the crowd would have been significantly higher. 

 

This has been a problem for this team for more than a decade.  Late November/December games almost always see a dip in attendance for a variety of reasons.  In this instance, it was Thanksgiving weekend, and a good portion of the population hits the road to be with family for the holiday, and Sunday would have been a travel day for many of these people.  We'll more than likely see a similar situation for the Falcons game as that is the weekend prior to Christmas, and many people are either traveling or tied up with other holiday observances. 

 

I don't think the configuration of the stadium indicates anything about fan passion.  When the stadium is full, the noise levels are perfectly fine.
