The Giant Fire Gus & Dave Thread (MERGED)
|
Quote:General Douglas MacArthur early in WWII got run off the Bataan peninsula and left half his army and the entire Philippines to the Japanese because he couldn't match his green army against the seasoned Japanese military. First off, McArthur is not the greatest CO of the 20th century. Not even the greatest American CO. But your example doesn't match the facts in the Jags case. A better example would be a Civil War CO without horses continually insisting on the use of cavalry as his main weapon against opposing cannon fire. True it would be better if he had horses, but the CO has to make do with what he has. "Why should I give information to you when all you want to do is find something wrong with it?" |
