But your example doesn't match the facts in the Jags case. A better example would be a Civil War CO without horses continually insisting on the use of cavalry as his main weapon against opposing cannon fire. True it would be better if he had horses, but the CO has to make do with what he has.

LOL! Leave it to you to try and rewrite history. Not only was he in charge of all the ground forces Pacific theater in WWII, he was also made the Supreme Allied Commander of the country of Japan in the post war era and following that was also made commander of all UN forces in the Korean war.

 

So he was a successful CO of the largest theater in WWII, the CO for 5 years of occupation and rebuild of a nation that would experience the greatest economic boom in history, and the CO of the largest UN action in history.

 

Regardless of your ignorant opinion, MacArthur is widely considered one of the greatest COs of the 20th century by both his contemporaries and historians and absolutely nothing you can say will change that fact.
