Should The Jaguars Be Actively Shopping Shorts Right Now, Like Cleveland Is Allegedly Doing With Josh Gordon?

Quote:I understand TMDs take that the QB should make the WR and not the other way around but if we do trade CS3 we are stuck finding a #2 across from Blackmon anyways and as others have said it would be nice for Bridgewater/Hundley/Mariota etc to get here and have 2 nice competent experienced playmakers to throw to right off the bat instead of Blackmon ,Sanders and a rookie.

Adding a playmaking TE would give the new QB a wealth of options in the passing game helping all areas of developement.

Maybe next year let shorts walk or attempt a trade and then take a big WR in the draft to be possession and redzone while Blackmon handles the mid range and Sanders handles the underneath. If he gets hurt well that sucks but you cant manage a team scared of losing a player and keep taking away from a position just to have to replace it anyways.

Either way Shorts needs to stay for the next QB up but i wouldnt extend him this year as another poster has suggested. Wait till next year and see what shakes down IMO.

Agreed completely.

Any QB we obtain next year will need weapons at his disposal.  Even though Shorts may ultimately be best off as a 3rd WR, he has been productive enough where he is and young enough to consider him a weapon for a young QB to have.  When you consider Blackmon is one slip up away from being suspended for a year, trading away Shorts could further hamstring the development of any young QB if that suspension should occur.  A pick that could be allocated to the interior OL and building a team around our new signal caller would be wasted trying to replace a young, developed and productive WR.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!
