 Many times it's clear the LBs are "releasing" the tight end, RB or WR to the secondary rather than trying to run with them. Only - there's a huge soft spot in the zone between the LBs and DBs. 

 

Also the frequent gap-filling with a TE or receiver coming open is SO frequent - I'm convinced it's not always mis-diagnosed. They are being coached to stay home against the run to a fault.  Just my opinion from watching and re-watching.  There are just too many times that every one in the building sees that its going to the TE over the middle - I have a hard time believing our LBs can't see that too. 

 

If that was the case, they wouldn't be turning around with a "oh snap" look to their giddy up as the ball is thrown over their heads....because they know that the guy they "released" is not their responsibility.

 

But that isn't what's happening. You see Poz and Telvin (Poz especially) take two steps towards the LOS as the run fake occurs and the TE/WR goes behind him then immediately stop, turn and chase the receiver.

 

Judging by these guys reaction...you can tell they got beat...and they know it.
