Well, it is becoming harder to defend Myers isn't it. It's one thing for a rookie kicker to miss outrageously long field goal attempts, after all, they generally don't occur that often (at least one would hope). The ability to consistently make the extra point after a touch down, on the other hand, has to be regarded as something to count on. Making the occasional long field goal doesn't justify missing 6 XP's so far, not to mention the critical game losing missed field goals he's had. The 2 missed XP's in the tacks game were momentum changers that hurt. Considering his record, I'm a little surprised he wasn't cut immediately following that game. 

 

Bottom line... this dude isn't a reliable kicker; he just doesn't live up to professional level expectations. He might be a really nice kid, I don't know; but that isn't the point... production is the issue. I can see us keeping him the rest of the season, I guess, since we apparently don't have anyone who could step in right now whom were confident would be better. After this season is over though, I would expect him to be cut and then for us to use the off season to go out and recruit a better kicker from somewhere. Please.
