Finally- Another Jim Irsay twitter eruption

Quote:I'm not sure they can win the South. I think the team that wins this weekend between the Clots & Tacks (got to appease the board) will win the division.

When Dwayne Allen, and Vick Ballard were lost for the season, then Bradshaw, and Wayne ... They lost the 4 best playmakers on the team. But you can see why Irsay feels like he does, the Patriots have lost a lot of playmakers as well, and they are still rolling. Not that Luck is in the same ballpark as Brady, because he isn't. Maybe in time he will be, but that ain't going to be this season (if ever).

It will be interesting to see if Irsay's tweets light a fire under some rear ends, especially the O-Line rears, and the D-Line isn't doing their jobs either.

Andrew Luck is a terrific young QB who should only continue to improve if he stays relatively healthy.   Yet,  you make a good point with the Patriots comparison from the perspective of Jim Irsay.

In addition to what you mentioned regarding the situations with the respective teams in 2013,   Tom Brady won a Super Bowl in his 2nd season in the NFL with a roster that at the beginning of that season looked anything but playoff caliber.   Also,  Ben Roethlisberger won a Super Bowl in his 2nd season in the NFL,  with the Steelers.   Both the Patriots and Steelers have provided Irsay with painful moments in the last decade.

As much as Andrew Luck has been a difference maker in many Colts games his first 2 seasons,  it's going to be an uphill battle to match the team accomplishments of Brady and Roethlisberger in the short term.  Jim Irsay should expect the Colts to reach the playoffs this season.  Anything in the playoffs should be considered gravy.    But regardless of the outcome of this season barring a total implosion,  he should let the current regime continue to put together the pieces to the puzzle to surround Luck with.   Continuity in the NFL is important.
